Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State | April 29, 2025 — A newly discovered seasonal waterfall in the heart of Araromi LCDA, Iyin-Ekiti, has been officially named IYIN FALLS, following a royal pronouncement by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, Oyinyosaiye Uyin III, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti.

This stunning natural attraction, located within the forest corridor along the New Ado-Iyin Road, was first uncovered by a group of local adventurers during a hiking expedition in late September 2024. Led by Ogbeni Babajide Fajuyi and Jamaica Bakare, the group followed the compelling sound of rushing water into the bush, where they made the remarkable discovery of a seasonal waterfall cascading into a tranquil pool—hidden from public knowledge for years.

Upon receiving news of the find, the duo invited distinguished culture advocate and academic, Prof. Ojo Bakare, to witness and verify the discovery. Despite the challenging trek through rugged terrain, Prof. Bakare confirmed the authenticity and touristic potential of the site.

Originally nicknamed “Forisole Waterfall” in a moment of light-hearted banter following a slippery fall, the site has now been given its rightful identity as IYIN FALLS, in a formal declaration by Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti. The royal recognition cements the waterfall’s significance as a landmark of cultural, economic, and environmental importance to the Iyin-Ekiti people.


“With the pronouncement of His Royal Majesty, IYIN FALLS is no longer just a discovery—it is a legacy,” said Prof. Bakare. “This blessing from the palace affirms the waterfall’s place in our identity and opens a new chapter for tourism development in Iyin-Ekiti.”

IYIN FALLS now joins the growing list of natural wonders in Ekiti State, with promising prospects for eco-tourism, youth engagement, and local enterprise. Plans are underway to develop the site sustainably while preserving its pristine beauty. The waterfall is expected to attract nature lovers, cultural tourists, and researchers eager to explore one of Ekiti’s newest gems.

As Iyin-Ekiti continues to unveil its natural heritage, the discovery and naming of IYIN FALLS serves as a reminder of the state’s immense potential—and the importance of preserving and promoting it.
